of America and special commendations from the Greater Houston
Children's Collaborative for a "generous investment in the lives of
Houston's children” and from Congribur, the Hispanic Language
Association of Latin America and Spain, for marketing and
attitudinal research and counsel. Dr. Langham also received a
commendation from the Eighth United States Army - Korea for
outstanding services during a time of turbulence.
Leadership
CEO and founder Barbara D.
Langham, PhD, APR
brings her years of business management, communications and training experience to
help you solve your problems. As leader of the firm and numerous
account teams, she develops strategies and implements diverse
programs for clients in energy, chemicals, banking, financial
services, retail, medicine and professional services. She also
handles litigation communication for law firms representing both the
defense and plaintiff.
For
international clients,
she has provided strategic reputation and image counsel
to companies in
Europe and Russia, to Latin American entities through CONGRIBER, the
international Hispanic language advertising association, La
Federacion Latinoamericana de Bancos (FELABAN) and La Asociacion de
Banqueros de Guatemala and to Korea through the Korea-U. S. Economic
Council.
Langham has

Prior to
establishing the firm, she served as director of investor relations for Ridgeway Exco Inc., a publicly traded oil and gas
company. Before that, she was with the American Educational Complex,
an organization providing training to the
U.S. government
abroad and to multinational and foreign industries, including Kia
Corporation, and American Express Bank. She served as
Director, Korea where the Eighth United States Army awarded her a
special commendation for outstanding service to the military. Next,
as Associate Dean, Japan she was responsible for the successful
country-wide start up of Department of Defense education and
training contracts for all four branches of the military. Prior to
her time in Asia, she was an Associate Professor in the Department
of English at Southern Illinois University - Carbondale, where she
taught courses in research, technical writing, exposition and
creative writing, both fiction and poetry, to undergraduate,
graduate and post graduate students.
Langham has
provided specialized communication training seminars and courses and
served as keynote speaker
at
business conferences and other events in the
United States,
Latin America, Europe and Asia, talking on communication, reputation
and marketing topics.
Among her
publications, her research on communication ethics was published in Communications World, the magazine of the
International Association of Business Communicators. She has also
published articles on writing skills for both teen and adult readers
in the general population as well as for business audiences. She is
published in anthologies and other books including, most recently
The Encyclopedia of Public Relations. She is listed in Poets and
Writers of America for her poems and short stories, published in
magazines, journals and anthologies. She is also listed in Who’s Who
in U. S. Writers, Editors and Poets.
Langham is a
member of the board of directors
of the Houston Strategic Forum, a past board member and
officer of the Industrial Engineering Advisory Board at Texas Tech
University, past president of the Houston chapter of the Public
Relations Society of America (PRSA), a former representative to the
PRSA National Conference, past chair of the accreditation program
for the Houston chapter, a member of the PRSA Counselors Academy.
Langham earned two graduate degrees from
Carnegie
Mellon
University in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Her Master of Arts in
English focused on curriculum design and her Doctor of Arts in
English was in the Creative Writing Program. Her dissertation is a
collection of short fiction, Texas Clay, from which several
short stories have been published. As an undergraduate, she
studied at Southern Methodist University in Dallas, Texas and at
Furman University in Greenville, South Carolina where she received
her Bachelor of Arts in English.
She is accredited by the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA).
Community
Community matters
